WHAT IS DEPICTED BY RADIAL PLOTS?
Radial plots for each institution place their publication profile, along with their citation impact profile on a circle of science. Around the circle, fields (Subject Categories) are being arranged by discipline, and the two radial lines corresponding to a particular field represent (with proportional lengths) the number of publications (in black) and the number of citations received (in grey) by that field in the ten-year period.
The plots are institution-normalized, that is, measure the percentage share of fields within the total output/citations of the actor. On the science circle only those fields are visible that account for the top 80% of the institutional publication record (Therefore, cross-comparisons between plots are valid in terms of active fields, only.)
WHAT R&D INSTITUTIONS ARE INCLUDED?
Via this service, the Competence Maps and radial plots for the 27 top Hungarian R&D
institutions are currently available.
By top institutions hereby we mean the most active actors in terms of publication output.
A threshold of 100 publications per ten years (2000-2010) were applied to sample the actors of Hungarian science.
